Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Box Creative International, Inc.(“BlurBox,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you visit theblurbox.app(the “Site”), join our waitlist, communicate with us, or use the BlurBox macOS application (the “App”). Please read this policy carefully.

1. Who we are

BlurBox is a product of Box Creative International, Inc., a company incorporated in the State of Florida, United States. For privacy-related questions or requests, contact us at blurbox@boxcreativestudio.com.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

  • Email address. When you join our waitlist, we collect your email address so we can confirm your signup, send waitlist updates, and notify you when BlurBox is available.
  • Communications. When you email us or reply to a message we send, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) records standard request data such as IP address, user agent, referring page, and timestamps for security and operational purposes.
  • Cookies. The Site uses Google Analytics (gtag.js), which sets cookies such as _ga and _gid to measure aggregate website usage. These analytics cookies are loaded only after you acceptthe cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, Google Analytics is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set. The Site does not use advertising cookies. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer (which re-opens the consent banner), or by clearing the Site’s local storage in your browser.

2.3 Information from the BlurBox App

BlurBox is designed to be privacy-first. The blur is a native macOS visual overlay drawn on top of your screen. BlurBox never captures, reads, records, or transmits the contents of your screen to BlurBox or any third party. The App collects no analytics and no telemetry.

The current release of the App makes no network connections. The following are planned future capabilities and are not active today:

  • Update checks (future). A future version may check whether a newer version of the App is available. This is not active in the current release.
  • License validation (future). Once the paid version is released, the App may verify your license key against our servers.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and maintain the Site and the App.
  • Confirm your waitlist signup and send you a welcome email.
  • Notify you when BlurBox is ready, send product updates, and respond to your inquiries.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, fraud, or security incidents.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal information on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — when you join our waitlist, and when you accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner.
  • Performance of a contract — to deliver the Site, the App, and any purchased license.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep our services secure, prevent abuse, and improve our products, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation — when we must process information to comply with applicable law.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the limited cases described below.

5.1 Service providers

We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate. They process information on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations:

  • Resend — sends our transactional emails and stores waitlist contacts.
  • Google LLC — Google Analytics (website usage analytics, consent-gated).
  • Vercel — hosts the Site and processes server logs.
  • GitHub — hosts our source code and deployment pipeline.

5.2 Legal and safety

We may disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is required to comply with law, legal process, or a lawful government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of BlurBox, our users, or others.

5.3 Business transfers

If BlurBox is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.

6. International data transfers

We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. If you access BlurBox from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in jurisdictions whose data-protection laws differ from your own. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Waitlist email addresses are retained until you ask to be removed or until BlurBox launches and you have either accepted or declined access.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • Delete your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
  • Data portability — receive a copy of your information in a machine-readable format.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email blurbox@boxcreativestudio.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

8.1 California residents

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

9. Children’s privacy

BlurBox is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Third-party links

The Site or App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing information.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will provide a more prominent notice (for example, by email).
