Accessibility permission isn't working
The single most common cause of BlurBox issues. The fix takes 30 seconds.
Last updated: April 2026
Symptoms
- BlurBox overlays won't follow windows when you move them.
- Right-clicking and choosing “Glue to Window Underneath” appears to do nothing.
- Overlays drift or detach unexpectedly.
Quick check (30 seconds)
- Open System SettingsApple menu → System Settings.
- Go to Privacy & Security → AccessibilityYou'll see a list of apps with their toggles.
- Confirm BlurBox is in the list and toggled onIf the toggle is off, flip it on and you're done.

If BlurBox isn't in the list
- Click the + buttonYou'll be prompted for your password or Touch ID.
- Navigate to Applications and select BlurBoxClick Open to add it.
- Toggle it onBlurBox should immediately start tracking windows.
If the toggle is on but it still doesn't work
macOS sometimes invalidates Accessibility permission silently — most often when an app has been updated, replaced, or moved. The fix is to turn the toggle off and back on:
- Toggle BlurBox offYou may be prompted to confirm.

- Toggle it back onThis forces macOS to re-establish the permission. It should immediately work.
After every BlurBox updateIf you replace BlurBox.app with a newer version, you may need to toggle the permission off and on once. After that, the new version is permanent.
If toggling doesn't fix it
The nuclear option: remove BlurBox from the list entirely, then re-add it.
- Quit BlurBoxClick the menu bar icon and choose Quit BlurBox.
- Select BlurBox in the Accessibility listClick the row.
- Click the − button to remove it
- Reopen BlurBoxFrom Applications. It will request Accessibility permission as if it were a fresh install. Approve it.
Still not working after all this? It's a real bug, not a permission issue. Please tell us with your macOS version and Mac model.
